Welcome to

 Mt. Orab

United Methodist

Church!

At Mount Orab United Methodist Church, our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. A disciple is someone who is a follower of Christ centering their life on loving God and loving their neighbor.  It is our passion to help others on this journey. We want you to feel welcome here in our home of fellowship and know that we're available to help you in your spiritual walk. Whether you join Sunday School or become involved in one of our other many Ministry opportunities, we hope you enjoy everything of which you become apart. With the strength and ministry that Jesus Christ taught us, may you have love and peace in your life. We hope to see you next Sunday!

Who are we?:

Mt. Orab UMC consists of a wide range of different people, from all ages and different backgrounds.  Whoever you are, you are assured a very warm welcome.

Visitors Welcome:

All visitors are very welcome. On Sundays we start the morning with tea, coffee and donuts (8:30 AM) in the fellowship hall before we go to the Sanctuary to Worship our Lord Jesus Christ at (9:00 am) Sunday School begins after Worship for children, youth, and adults. During the week we have various opportunities for study, ministry and mission outreach.

What to wear?:

That's easy.  Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Our Worship service is very casual, many wear bluejeans.  There is no need to dress up to try and be someone that you're not.  Come as you are, that fine with us.

What to Expect:

A group of folks who are continuing their journey of faith seeking God's love and forgiveness through His Son Jesus Christ. You will find people who are new in their faith as well as those who have walked with the Lord for a long time! My Thoughts for Wednesday, September 20, 2017

Good Morning Friends! I pray you have a great day today. I pray that whatever you are facing in life today you will allow Almighty God to lead and guide you through it.
I was just reading in Psalm 84 and these verses were good to hear again. verse 10-12; "Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my Go than dwell in the tents of the wicked, For the Lord God is sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O Lord Almighty, blessed is the person who trusts in you."
It is good to be reminded how awesome it will be to be in God's presence and it is good to know even in this life we are in God's presence.
Have a Blesse DAY!

My Thoughts for Thursday, September 7, 2017

As Hurricane Irma aims for Florida and has already swept over many Islands it is hard to comprehend what it must be like to go through such a devastating storm. Knowing that there is a good chance your home, business, job might all be destroyed would be very difficult. I have never lived through such a storm. I have never lived in an area where wild fires are raging out of control burning everything in their path. I have lived through big snow storms, I have got caught out in a blizzard trying to make it home from work, but these storms can't compare with what is going on right now across our country.

For me and I expect those of us who are not effected by the floods, the hurricanes or fires, we feel a bit helpless as we watch the news and see so many people loss everything in life, some even losing family members. We know the scriptures, God says he will be with us through the storms of life, but when the water is rising, when the trees are burning it would be a little harder to have that peace and confidence. Jesus walked out to the boat the disciples were in while a huge storm raged on the sea. Peter got out of the boat to walk toward Jesus and was doing fine until he took his eyes off Jesus. It was then that he began to sink!

Friends, you may be going through your own storm today, you may be wondering how you will survive it. I want to encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus for he will deliver you through the storm.

If you want to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey with a financial donation our church is collecting money for UMCOR which is United Methodist Committee on Relief. This United Methodist agency goes into the disaster areas and stays long after the Red Cross has left. 100% of your donation goes to help the people in that area.

If you don't have a church home or church family I would like to invite you to come our check out our church family. At Mt. Orab UMC we worship at 9:00 am. Hope to see you Sunday!

Peace in Christ,
Pastor Al

Have you sung to the Lord a new song lately? Good Morning Friends, I hope this new day finds you filled with joy and peace and a desire to sing a new song to the Lord.
Psalm 149 says, "Praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. For the Lord takes delight in his people....Let the saints rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds."
We can and need to find some way everyday to Praise our Lord. We need to be open and seeking a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit each day because it is through the Spirit's presence in our lives that we can sing a new song! It is because Jesus is constantly doing transforming work in our hearts, minds and souls that we can sing a new song. Let us not get stuck on how we have always done things, (ministry and life) but let us see what new ways we can live and be in ministry for the Glory of God and for the renewing of our own spirit and life!
What is your new Song today!
Peace in Christ,
Pastor Al
